The World's Longest Left Is Real

COASTALWATCH | Dream Waves

Yesterday we posted this photo adaptation by Ashley Bickerton on Instagram with the question whether it was real or fake, dream or reality. There is always a lot of speculation about photos like these on social media with photo editing being so widely and easily used and dreamy shots like this are often cast off quickly with conspiracies on how they were created rather than keeping the dream alive that they could exist.

Good news guys, a wave just like this exists. Located in northern Peru, Chicama is one of the longest known left-hand waves in the world. Bad news, it's super inconsistent. But, when it's on, IT'S ON... 4 kilometres worth of recorded on, that's over 3 minutes of goofy footer's dream wave come true, and some serious quad burn to boot. Occy, Owen, Wilko, they've all enjoyed the mythical South American wave.

The video below was taken at the super-super bank on 18th January, just 72 hours ago! So if you've got an extra penny and your quiver packed, we're pretty sure there'll be less of a crowd than the Goldie on the weekend with the news if Tropical Cyclone Victor on the move. You can also check out the current wave, wind and weather through the map below.
