Early season in the Maldives has delivered plenty bowls

Ex South African pro Sean Holmes had a remarkably memorable trip down to the Southern Atolls in late March/early April with The Perfect Wave aboard The Cobia.

Sean says: "In my view the Maldives is a “bucket list” destination in terms of the overall experience. The quality and variety of waves, pristine diving, excellent fishing, kiting, SUPing, foiling and postcard scenery, it has it all.

"For travelling Europeans and South Africans, the close proximity adds to the convenience of the journey.

"For my Aussie friends it is easier than hitting the Ments.

We scored a bunch of quality reef set ups uncrowded and took turns getting slotted."

You can see the clip of the waves Sean and his buddies scored over here.

Throughout April TPW photographer Margarita Salyak hung out down south aboard The Perfect Wave boat The Naera.

Margarita says, "The conditions were absolutely incredible for most of the month. Super glassy and pretty consistent four foot to six foot on a bunch of days. The line-ups were mostly empty, so our guests could enjoy it all for themselves most of the time. Our surf guide and absolute legend Marty would always make everyone super stoked, no one was disappointed, let's put it that way."

We will let the photos and the clip tell the rest of the story.
