Marriage, or "compromise", as it's sometimes known, is a beautiful thing. It's the coming together of two people who get along swimmingly...in the ocean...preferably with waves. Well, at least that might be your idea of it.

Post-Nuptials is a big deal! You are only meant to have one crack at it, so why not make it a good one and make sure that compromise is fulfilled.

Here are nine of the best honeymoon surf trips for you and your new husband or wife!

1. Hudhuranfushi Surf Resort, North Male, Maldives

A surfing honeymoon to remember. A choice of three stylish rooms, all-inclusive packages that give you exclusive access to your own world class wave off the island and access to a further six in the region. Multiple dining options, water sports centre, scuba diving centre, fishing tours, gym, badminton and much more.

2. Niyama Surf Resort, Central Atolls, Maldives

When professional surfers like Taj Burrow are going on a surfing honeymoon to places like Niyama Resort, you know you are onto a winner! Taj and wife Bec enjoyed everything about Niyama with an amazingly beautiful villa on the beach and access to their own private surf break off the island.

Choice of nine dining options, luxurious facilities you are free to use at your will and the friendliest staff imaginable.

3. WavePark Resort, Mentawais

Suitable year-round for your surfing honeymoon. A private island with a wave just out the front (Hideaways) and a multitude of other surf breaks all within a 10 minute striking distance from the private turqoise lagoon.

Wavepark's bungalows are unique and extremely spacious including an indoor/outdoor bathroom complete with double vanity, couples shower, and western style amenities. Outdoor day beds sit a stone's throw from the water's edge, perfect for sitting by their private beach with Hideaways surf break visible in the distance.

4. Resort Latitude Zero, Telo Islands

A luxury boutique surf resort nestled on its own private island in the remarkable Telo Islands.

Palm-fringed forest meets white sand beaches meets clear, warm and aqua coloured water, making it perfect for a swim, snorkel and most importantly boat access, which will be your chariot to the surf breaks nearby.

Spoil yourself and your partner on what will be a very special honeymoon in a true surfer's paradise.

5. Matanivusi Resort, Coral Coast, Fiji

Ideal for couples, better for honeymooners. Matanivusi Resort has everything from year-round surf to upmarket accommodation designed by award winning architect Paul Uhlmann (a surfer from the Gold Coast).

A short flight from Australia and a beautiful transfer from the airport to the Coral Coast.

Plenty for non-surfers to do, plenty for surfers to do!

6. Savaii Surfaris, Samoa

Talofa Lava and welcome to a Polynesian paradise.

Located on a private beach with a private wave, Savaii Island is the perfect destination for your honeymoon. Paddle straight out off Aganoa Beach to your private wave, snorkel, SUP or fish in the beautiful lagoon or jump in a hire car and explore the tiny island's hidden secrets with blowholes, waterfalls, friendly locals and much more.

7. Pinnacles on Telo, Telo Islands

The newest surf resort built with complete luxury in mind. Located directly onshore from Pinnacles surf break, Pinnacles on Telo offers luxurious excapes from civilisation without compromising comfort.

With eight intimate bungalows, totally beachfront and uninterrupted views of the Indian Ocean. Fully air conditioned, huge ensuite bathrooms and large deck space to relax or get a massage.

World class dining experience with professional chef on hand catering to your every need and dietry requirement.

Did we mention the surf pumps too?

8. Komune Resort, East Coast Bali

A personal favorite and not just for honeymooners but for couples, solos and groups.

Not only is there a world class break out the front and a handful of others nearby, Komune has an exclusive day club/bar and restaurant completely beachfront and with perfect viewing of Keramas.

The rooms are outstanding (we recommend the Ocean Suites), the food is to die for and the staff are literally some of the friendlist human beings you will ever meet.

Throw in a world class day spa, gymnasium, vegetarian restaurant, yoga studio and skatepark.

9. Telo Island Lodge, Telo Islands

In case you haven't already guessed, the Telo Islands is a fairly popular honeymoon spot for surfers.

Telo Island Lodge is no exception with its luxurious beachfront bungalows and expert service and knowledge from the TIL staff.

With very limited space, make sure you book this one with plenty of notice to get in.
