American Caitlin Simmers is just 13 years old and over the weekend won the highly respected junior specialist event, the Rip Curl GromSearch, on a fun Costa Rican beachbreak. She was joined on the winners dais by 15-year old Afonso Antunes out of Portugal who took out the boy's side of the 16 and under grom comp.  Atunes is only the second European to win the GromSeatch International Final, following in the footsteps of Italian CT surfer Leo Fioravanti.

Also, would you have a look at this line-up shot from between heats that was amongst the press material sent out for this event? Excuse us while we Google flights and accomm to Costa Rica.
