Barton Lynch, Nick Carroll & Richie Lovett On What's Really Happening With WSL Judging & The Slater Movement

COASTALWATCH | LIVE DISCUSSION REPLAY

On Saturday 22 April 2017, Barton Lynch, Nick Carroll & Richie Lovett reviewed the Australian leg of the World Championship Tour covering judging, John John Florence, Kelly's surfing, Owen Wright's return and the performance of the athletes.

The panel discusses in detail the judges thinking, process, and decision-making at Snapper Rocks, Margaret River and Bells Beach. Lynch talks about how he spend the day with the judges at Bells to gain an understanding of how they were looking at the waves.

Carroll highlights that over the three events Kelly Slater got only three waves scored over eight points and questions what we're really seeing with the Slater movement right now. Is he wrestling with his performance right now? Are his boards a little too loose right now? Has he set the bar too high, where we're always expecting to see him surf the same?

An incredible insight into the goings-on of the last two months in professional surfing.
