About this swell: A solid rise in ESE windswell set in on Tuesday; building into the 3 to 5ft range across southern Queensland coasts and holding this size into early Wednesday before easing a notch during the day. In contrast, northern NSW coasts saw larger, stormier peak in the vicinity of 4 to 6ft plus under strong onshore winds.

The latest spike in ESE swell is again linked to the persistent surface trough (and embedded low) still situated just off the southern Queensland coast. On Monday the system began to deepen once more and maintained a close-range, 20 to 30 knot ESE fetch offshore on Tuesday; working in conjunction with a firm ridge reinforced by a large high over Victoria.
